Our Story

Hi, I'm Bret Kittle, founder of PracticeLite.

I've been building software in the San Francisco startup scene since 2009—first in industries like travel and ecommerce, and eventually in healthcare, where I found my real passion: building tools that make people's work lives easier.

Before starting PracticeLite, I was an engineer at SimplePractice, where I saw firsthand both the technical challenges behind traditional EHR platforms and the frustration therapists were experiencing on the front lines. So many clinicians—especially those starting their own private practice—were paying for bloated systems that didn't match the way they worked. Expensive monthly plans, features they didn't use, and workflows that just didn't feel intuitive.

That stuck with me.

I knew I wanted to build an EHR that actually served small practices—especially those just getting started. I wanted it to be:
